Mankato, Minn. — USA TODAY‘s Senior Golf Writer and Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Stephen DiMeglio will speak at the Mass Media Department‘s Media Day Tuesday, April 24, 2012 between 4 and 6 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union‘s Ostrander Auditorium.
DiMeglio provided coverage of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Tiger Woods, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, to name a few. His speech “Mickey Mantle’s on Line 1, Steve!” will show his journey from an MSU, Mankato student to an USA TODAY senior reporter. The event is free and open to the students, faculty, staff and the public.
DiMeglio started his professional career as a special projects reporter at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif. Then he moved to Arlington, Va. and became a regional correspondent for Gannett News Service, where he covered Capitol Hill issues. Afterwards, DiMeglio became a writer for USA TODAY Sports Weekly and assisted on NFL and NASCAR coverage. Currently he is a senior golf writer for the USA TODAY and his main emphasis is on professional golf tours.

-was the sports editor for the MSU Reporter
-his father, John DiMeglio, history professor at MSU, Mankato taught a “History of Baseball” class
Ellen Mrja, the senior member of the mass media department and DiMeglio’s former professor said: “He was absolutely the most dedicated sports editor our paper has ever had. His sports pages were more than scores, they were interesting, informative and consistently outstanding.”
DiMeglio attended MSU, Mankato between 1983-87. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication with emphasis in News Editorial and minor in history.
The Minnesota State Mankato Mass Media Department hosts Media Day every year. It represents an annual outreach day that celebrates students’ success and achievements.

Main problem here is that you have too many hyperlinks. You do not need to refer to USA Today more than once as a link. Nor do you have to link to NFL or NASCAR. If this runs in the Mankato Free Press, would we want a link to it?
Also, your identification as the p.r. writer goes at the top of the page..not Steve’s.
Your headline uses the word “alumni” incorrectly. That’s a plural noun. Steve is an alumnus. Someday you will be an alumna.
